20 rigs were scattered thru out the Canal for our April campout. Several had family and friends for supper Friday evening. The McElroys, Haleys & the Wrights went to a musical in Grand Rivers. They reported to have a great time. Later that evening, most of the campers were gathered at the Haley’s for a stubborn fire but Liale worked on it and finally got it blazing……with the help of Bob Ray’s blower.

Mitzi, Frieda, Vickie and Ellie hopped in Jim’s truck to go down town to get ice cream but to no avail. After watching us read the menu for 5 minutes, the workers finally said,’’We’re closed.’’ But that didn’t stop Frieda. Miss Ellie had a secret stash of praline in her camper for her to sample. P.S. Don’t tell Wes where it went. By the way, what is the deal with men and there diesel trucks? For some reason my husband looked quite nervous after I parked his truck. I just don’t get it.

Saturday morning, several families met for breakfast at the Knight’s camper. Some went out for breakfast and the rest stayed in. It seemed that Rungo was the game of choice this weekend. I heard hoops of excitement several times while this game was played. Some went to town to wonder around in the shops of Grand Rivers while others went biking or hiking. Since the weather was so beautiful, I also saw a lot of eating outside and lounging. What a way to enjoy camping! The evening was just as nice with a HUGE potluck under the pavillion. We have some great cooks in our midst. It was good to have Frank back with us. At last count, there were about 50 people there for the weekend. After the potluck, Elsie led us in a game of ‘’ Baby You Can Drive My Car’’.

John Haley led the Sunday morning service. He spoke on forgiveness and living out what the Bible says we should be like in our daily lives. Good job John. A few people went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and others combined their food for a Sunday brunch. We did the same for lunch and shared our buns with a hungry goose who came up to the camper. It seemed like we ate all weekend! Boy was it good though.  Most of us left Sunday but a few stayed on another night. Just think , in only 2 weeks we’ll be doing this again. The next campout will be at Columbus Belmont State Park in Ky. May11-13. See you there.
