4 Rivers Jayco May 2005 Newsletter

Before I write about what a wonderful weekend we had at Canal Campground I would like to thank Faye for designing & maintaining our website for the past (5) years!  We really appreciate all your time & effort.

Speaking of a wonderful weekend; didn’t we have beautiful weather! (Sure made up for the crummy weather we had at Fern Clyffe State Park.) Loved those cool crisp nights which made for good sleep’n with the windows open!

We had 17 families including our Friends of Flight 9:

Odell., Deirdre, & Aaron Paul Allbritten, Kyle, Vance,  Jim & Mitzi Borum, Steve & Judy Dawson, Danielle & Craig, Durwood, Rheitta Eleam, & Durwood’s brother, Gerald from Enterprise, AL, John & Cynthia Hailey, Dennie & Elsie Hinkle, Charlie & Marla McElroy, Bob & Wanda Ray, grandchildren, Renee, Jaimie, & Julia, Bill & Betty Ryan, Liale & Frieda Sellers, Frank & Pat Sherman, George & Mary Taylor, Ed & Johnnie Wyatt, Dale & Jan Wright; grandchildren Molly & Chelsea,.

Flight 9 Friends:  Eugene & Faye Burden, Don  & Dot Eizenga and  Glen & Rosann Lingle. We are always glad when our SOB Friends can join us!

Friday evening found several gathered at the Ray’s campfire. Mosquitoes would have carried us away but Bob had his bug “zapper” going strong and also gave us a shot of “Off”! Mitzi Borum showed up with a cast on her leg. Mitzi, hurry and get well!

Saturday the men cooked a delicious breakfast of pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy.  According to “Bucky” the amount of meat dropped was disappointedly minimal!

After breakfast we had our monthly meeting.  The 50/50 netted $25.00 and $25.00 was won once again by the Sellers’. They are trying to get enough money for their Montana trip! The Door prize that was furnished by Robert & Deborah Heisel was won by Durwood & Rheitta.

The rest of Saturday found everyone going in different directions as some went shopping, bike riding, and ballgames, reading & taking naps. Aaron Paul, grandson of Odell & Deirdre helped make a difference in a young boy’s life as he fished in a benefit tournament for Tanner Cox who has a rare brain cancer.

On a lighter note, and we won’t mention any names, one young boy & girl decided to be adventuresome and take a swim on their own. I bet they will always remember this campout!  Glad they came back safe & sound.

On Sunday I’m not sure what everybody did as we were so scattered it was hard to keep up. The Hailey’s played Dominoes with the Sellers’ (could have been Saturday night) and they let Cynthia win so she would come back and play again sometime. The Ray’s had lots of company. Wanda said they had (16)! Pat Sherman entertained us with some of her “camping disasters” over at the Burden’s on Sunday afternoon.

Memorial day, several had to pack up and head home, but some lucky ones got to spend another day.  All in all I think everyone had a good holiday!
